Klar mussten wir hie und da improvisieren, etwa, weil die K\u00f6chin in unserer Unterkunft kurzfristig ausgefallen ist. Aber ich bin \u00fcberzeugt, dass ein Youth Camp Toleranz und Verst\u00e4ndnis schafft \u2013 f\u00fcr Kulturen, Gepflogenheiten, Wertvorstellungen. Dass sich Freundschaften bilden. Die Teilnehmenden und wir als Team profitierten sehr.<\/p>\n<p>Inwiefern?<br \/>\nSie kn\u00fcpften Freundschaften \u00fcber Landesgrenzen hinweg. Und wenn ich die Dynamik so beobachtete, dann bin ich \u00fcberzeugt, dass manche lange halten werden. Ausserdem sammelten die Jugendlichen Erfahrungen in Leadership, lernten, sich zu vernetzen und sich f\u00fcr soziales Engagement zu begeistern. Das steht im Zentrum des Youth Camps. Und das konnten wir vermitteln.<\/p>\n<p>Wie profitiert Kiwanis davon?<br \/>\nDie Teilnehmenden lernten Kiwanis als Organisation kennen, den Wert der Organisation f\u00fcr die Gesellschaft. Ihnen war zum Beispiel nicht klar, dass dieses Camp allein durch den Einsatz von Kiwanis m\u00f6glich war, oder dass wir Camp-Leader ehrenamtlich arbeiten. Kiwanis ist zum Begriff f\u00fcr sie geworden, und das werden sie weitergeben. Und wenn sich daraus eines Tages neue Mitgliedschaften ergeben: umso besser.<\/p>\n<p>Wo lagen die gr\u00f6ssten Schwierigkeiten?<br \/>\nDie Pandemie brauche ich ja nicht zu erw\u00e4hnen, das hat die Organisation schon viel komplizierter \u2013 und aufwendiger \u2013 gemacht. Und dann gab es auch frustrierende Momente. Zwei Ungarinnen sagten ihre Teilnahme kurzfristig per Email ab, und eine Italienerin tauchte einfach nicht auf. Die Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit ist ein Problem. Aber die Schwester, die die Teilnehmenden jeweils beim Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck betreute, lobte diese in den h\u00f6chsten T\u00f6nen.<\/p>\n<p>Klingt danach, als h\u00e4tte sich da eine tolle Gruppe zusammengefunden<br \/>\nEine sensationelle sogar! Alle waren voller Motivation und aufgestellt. Und im Aufenthaltsraum ging es schon vom ersten Abend an rund. Bis wie tief in die Nacht sie sich jeweils unterhielten, spielten und auch tanzten, wissen wir nicht, aber die M\u00fcdigkeit wuchs mit jedem Tag.<\/p>\n<p>Die d\u00fcrfte aber auch dem Programm geschuldet sein.<br \/>\nDas stimmt nat\u00fcrlich, das war n\u00e4mlich ziemlich eng getaktet. Unsere Meraner Freunde haben sich selbst \u00fcbertroffen, ihre Arbeit ist nicht hoch genug einzusch\u00e4tzen.<\/p>\n<p>Und wie anstrengend war das Lager f\u00fcr Euch Camp-Leader?<br \/>\n(lacht) Nicht minder anstrengend als f\u00fcr die Jugendlichen. Wir hatten eigentlich geplant, dass alle einen Tag freinehmen. Aber mehr als ein paar Stunden waren nicht m\u00f6glich. Es war eine intensive Woche. Aber ich habe jetzt eine Woche Urlaub \u2013 und die brauche ich auch.<\/p>\n<p>Gibt es eigentlich ein Kiwanis Youth Camp 2022?<br \/>\nIch hoffe es. Offen ist, ob die Mitglieder des Camp-Teams weitermachen. Und dann ist entscheidend, dass ein Club quasi als Gastgeber amtet. Ohne den KC Meran w\u00e4re dieses Camp nicht m\u00f6glich gewesen. Aber ich darf verraten, dass wir bereits die F\u00fchler ausgestreckt haben.<\/p>\n<p>Klingt nicht danach, als w\u00fcrdest Du uns verraten, welcher Club das ist.<br \/>\nJa, das ist noch nicht spruchreif. Nur so viel: Wenn sich dieser Club als Host zur Verf\u00fcgung stellt, wird es 2022 wohl ein Youth Camp geben. Ansonsten kann ich mir auch gut vorstellen, dass wir alle zwei Jahre ein Camp durchf\u00fchren.<\/p>\n<p>((BOX))<br \/>\nZahlreiche Geldgeber<br \/>\nDas Kiwanis Youth Camp bietet Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen aus Europa die M\u00f6glichkeit, f\u00fcr 200 Euro an einem Lager teilzunehmen. Im Zentrum stehen Leadership, Charity, Kultur, Sport und die Gemeinschaft. Das Budget von 40&#8217;000 Euro f\u00fcr 25 Jugendliche deckt vor allem das Engagement von Sponsoren. Wichtigste Geldgeber waren die Kiwanis Foundation, der G\u00f6nnerverein und die S\u00fcdtiroler KC, allen voran der KC Meran.
